A portrait of a handsome rugged masculine cowboy that Ed photographed many different times; illustrating him as a cowboy, seaman, or even a rough looking Gabby Hayes roughneck. The model had obvious qualities and Ed found him great to work with. His name is Tony Clark; Ed met him at a sports show in Chicago; asked him to visit our Chicago studio for test shots. Ed showed the images to the Art director at Leo Burnett advertising agency in hoping to be considered as a Marlboro Man; the rest is history. Tony was on the billboards as the “man” I’m not sure, but I believe he may have been one of the last: “Marlboro Man”.
